Question and Answers

Q:

frost on items in freezer 79578304800 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model 79578304800:  If there is frost building up inside the freezer it is due to an exchange of warm and cold air. This can happen due to a bad freezer seal (gasket), a good way to test the seal is to close a piece of paper in the door, then try to pull it out. If it comes out easily then the seal is the problem. If the paper is hard to pull out then the seal is good, and the problem is most likely coming from the vents. Also make sure the freezer is set for the correct temperature.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Q:

Sears refrigerator problem

A:

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your refrigerator. From what you are describing it sounds like the main control board has failed and needs to be replaced. This is what controls all of the parts within the unit. That main control board is part EBR41531305. You can order that control board from the Sears PartsDirect website. Here is a direct link for that part: Main PCB Board . Unplug the refrigerator before accessing and replacing that control board.

NOTE: A technician would normally check the major loads connected to that control board using the wiring diagram provided below. If there is a major load that is open and grounding to the metal cabinet or short, it could cause the control board to blow that fuse again as soon as the board is replaced. If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can check the major component circuits for resistance. If all of the loads that are connected to that control board are okay, then you could have had an internal control board failure that caused that fuse to blow. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on the link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. Click on "Get Started" and follow the directions, click on the red "NEXT" button to continue. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

We replaced the control board ourselves. It took all of 10 minute! We shopped around online and found one for $44 less than the Sears price. Ordered it on Monday, it arrived on Thursday and like I said, it took us a mere 10 to carefully unwrap it, remove the old, and install the new one. Plugged in the fridge and voila!
