Question and Answers

Q:

ice has a bad taste is there a filter to change 79578092901 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model 79578092901; this refrigerator does not come with a built in water filter. You can add an inline (universal) water filter to filter the water and get a better taste, also the I recommend you replace the water line in the back of the refrigerator since over time the plastic lines accumulate a bad taste that makes the water taste different. A copper water line will not affect the water taste over time like the plastic lines do.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Q:

Water is accumulating under the refrigerator recently. Ice maker is turned off. 79578092901 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model 79578092901; it sounds like the freezer drain may have frozen. The freezer drain allows the melted ice form the defrost cycle to drain into the drain pan on the bottom of this unit, so when the drain freezes it becomes clogged and the water accumulates in the freezer floor causing the ice to melt once it goes thru the defrost cycle. This is usually what causes the melted ice water to leak on the kitchen floor. To fix the problem described you will need to unplug the refrigerator power cord, remove the food from your freezer and also remove the rear panel in the freezer. With the panel removed you will have access to the drain, you can pour hot water down the drain in the freezer using a turkey baster until the water goes down the drain line melting the ice that is causing the blockage. Once the drain is cleared you can reassemble the rear panel and plug the refrigerator power cord back in.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.
