Q:

frozen water at bottom of freezer 79577559600 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

A:

First, I recommend that you shut off the water supply to the refrigerator and see if the water stops accumulating in the freezer. Keep in mind that residual water in the water system may continue to leak for a day or two. After shutting off the water, try to drain as much water out of the water system through the water dispenser. Wait for a couple of days before deterning whether the water stops leaking. If the water stops building up, then the source of the water is definitely coming from the ice maker water fill system.

If the water leak is coming from the ice maker system, then I recommend that you unplug the refrigerator and remove the ice maker. The ice maker should be attached to the side wall of the freezer with screws. Remove the screws and unplug the wire harness then remove the ice maker from the freezer. Check the water fill line. If the line is damaged, replace it. If the line is okay, check the ice mold in the ice maker assembly. If the ice mold is cracked, replace the ice maker assembly.

I hope that this information helps. If you need further assistance, let us know.

Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.

Thank you very much, Lyle. We finally did what you suggested. It has been several days since we shut off the water and longer since we shut off the ice maker, and the water continues to build up every 4-6 hours (roughly, we have never actually timed it). We are assuming that the defrost system is the culprit and something is plugged somewhere. It was quite dirty under the refrigerator when we bought the house. We can see tracks where the water leaks to the freezer bottom at the back of the freezer. Do you have any other suggests for finding the plug? Are we correct in assuming it is the defrost system? Thanks again for your help, Rochelle

Q:

Interior light will not work. 79577559600 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your fridge and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 79577559600
and the cover has 2 screws toward the front that will need to be removed. If the switches are new the issue will be with the harness between the control board and the light socket harness. You will need to check the voltage at the sockets and verify if you are getting power to the light harness before the sockets connection. There is a relay on the main control board housed on the back panel of the refrigerator that controls the light along with the door switch. If the board is not sending the proper voltage or any power at all, the lights will not work. I  hope this information helps you narrow down your issue. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.
