Freezer Problems 79576289600 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

Q:

Replacement of a Capacitor on Kenmore Model# 79576289600 79576289600

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your refrigerator and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 79576289600 and the capacitor is item 410G in the diagram and you will need to remove the rear panel. It is located near the control board. The capacitor holds a strong charge even it is disconnected from the power and I strongly recommend having a service technician do the repair if you do not feel comfortable doing the repair. Take photos before removing parts from the fridge so that you can remember where the parts go. You may also want to replace the overload protector item 309A. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact Sears for repairs. Thank you for the answer; however, I need to know if it's just the rear panel where the compressor is located or is it the whole back panel (silver in color)? If it's the latter of the two, is there a particular way to remove it? Are the instructions or a diagram available? Thank you.

Q:

Exactly how to remove socket from the switch 79576289600 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly assist you in locating the instructions to install the switch on your refrigerator. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information to assist you.

Remove door switch:
1.  To remove door switch, pry it out with a slotted type driver.
2. disconnect the lead wire.

If there is a clip on the lead wire then you will need to get a flat head screw driver to push down on the plastic piece to release the tab.
The harness connector will also be prye off the old switch.
