Q:

Ice Maker "Feeler Arm" for model 79575289401 79575289401 Kenmore Bottom-mount

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when the feeler arm on your ice maker has broke. I did look into the model number you have provided and I do apologize the manufacture does not sell the feeler arm for this model separate from the ice maker assembly. You will need to replace the complete icemaker. You are able to visit a repair store to see if they will be able to repair it. I do apologize.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

I provided a test procedure for the ice maker assembly in the third image below. You may be able to use that information to test the ice maker and determine the cause of your problem.

The issue with the frost on the back wall of your freezer is probably caused by a failure in the automatic defrost system. I provided some technical information in the first two images that may help you with that failure. You can use the diagnostic test procedure to check the defrost heater. If that heater does not come on, you could have a problem with the heater, a blown fuse in that heater circuit or a problem with the thermistor (defrost temperature sensor).

Your friend who works on refrigerators should be able to use this information to diagnose and repair the ice maker and frost problem if you can still use that resource. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components.
