Question and Answers

Q:

Why do the door cams break?

A:

The purpose of the cams is to help keep the doors closed. The cams can be replaced separately from the door gasket but if the gasket frame is damaged then the complete gasket will need to be replaced. Most of the time only the cam will need to be replaced. The cams have been upgraded and are now improved. Left side: 4430JJ2004B and Right side: 4430JJ2004A. These cams can be ordered at sears parts direct. This is not improperly assembled or a bad design. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.

I've got the same issue with my Kenmore refrigerator model: 79571306010 and part number: ap4440023. It seems to me that there must be a manufacture problem with the "gasket frame" or "gasket" because both doors have the same problem. I just received the gasket replacement for the right side. Before I could install it the left one broke too. The cams are just fine - its the thing they attach too that's weak in my opinion. please advise what I should do. Thanks

This is a bad design, I now have to replace my light sockets because they heated due to the door not shutting properly. Really sad there has been no response to this problem. Very disappointed.

795.71306010 Right door Part number 233F (as found on the Sears/Kenmore website) And 233E is the left side. I replaced the right one and when I reassembled it I thought to myself that this isn't going to last very long. As the cam activates it bends the part 233F back and forth so it's just a matter of time before it wares out and breaks again. What do you think?
