Question and Answers

Q:

freezer fan not working

A:

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with the freezer fan motor. If both the fan motor and control board have been replaced and if the motor still won't run, it would normally indicate a poor or broken wire connection. Now, on the board at connection 4, if there is 10-14 vdc between pins 5 and 6 (gy and wh wires), it will indicate the board is ok. Now, make this same check at the motor. When making these voltage checks, do not disconnect any of the wires, they must stay connected. If this voltage is not at the motor, it would indicate a wiring problem. A technician would be required to make this check to determine, if the unit can be repaired. I'm listing a site you can access, to schedule a tech to come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services. I hope this will help you.  _Safety Notice_: Be sure to disconnect the appliance before performing any troubleshooting procedures. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks or repairs that might be recommended, please contact a local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others. .

Q:

Freezer fan was not running

A:

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with the fan motor. If the fan motor has been replaced and it still won't run, the most likely problem will be with the control board. The main control board controls all the functions of the unit. Now, it's possible this could be a wiring problem but it's not very likely. However, if the wires on the motor seem ok, check the wires at the control board. If the wires seem ok (no loose connections), the main board # EBR41531306 will need to be replaced. This is the board in the back of the unit. It's available at Sears PartsDirect. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will assist you further.
