Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I know how frustrating it is to have ice build-up on the freezer walls which can consequently warm the refrigerator.

The defrost sensor is located within the control box section of the refrigerator where the light bulb is.

Control Box Disassembly

  1. First, remove all shelves in the refrigerator. Then remove the refrigerator control box by loosening the 2 screws in the front.
  2. Remove the refrigerator control box by pulling it downward.
  3. Disconnect the lead wire on the right position and separate the lamp sockets.

Note- Manually unplug the refrigerator unit before making any internal part replacement, or you risk damaging internal electrical components such as the electronic control board.

Hopefully these instructions will guide you in the right direction to make a seamless installation. I have also included a link to the control box schematic so you can visually see the part breakdown. The part we are discussing is listed as 903D on the visual.

Is the part located inside the styrofoam? I don't see it when I lowered the control box inside the refrigerator.

Thank you for your response and for using ManageMyLife.com. The defrost sensor is a small part, and when the control box is lowered, it will be on the left side if your facing the refrigerator and around the left center of the control box. It would not be in styrofoam.

I have included a visual you can click on to open that shows the defrost sensor connection. If you can, you can trace the connection wires for the defrost sensor back to the sensor's location within the control box. I reviewed the service manual again, but it didn't provide me specifics on the removal/location of the sensor.  Hopefully this will help you in locating it.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when trying to fix your appliances.

I am looking at the control box for model 795.69292901 and see key number 903D.   By the picture I see, sorry cant tell 100 percent.   It looks to be an attachment to the bottom of the control box or just right inside, but looks to be the bottom.   120B is the control box and 903D the sensor.
