Q:

Water Dispenser Sticks, Ice Maker Stopped Making Ice and Spills Water Over. 79558816900 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your refrigerator dispenser is not working properly.

You will need to replace the micro switch in the dispenser to stop the dispenser from sticking. The switch is getting stuck and allows the dispenser to stay on and overflow.

1) Confirm the amount of water supplied to the icemaker
(1) Press the button (Figure 1) to selsct the level of water (Optimum level → Large → Small.)
2) Icemaker Operation Test (Test mode)
(1) Press the button (Figure 1) for more than 3 seconds and It will start the Test mode.
(2) Test the operation of the operating part of the icemaker.
(3) If there is no problem with the operation, water is supplied through the water tube (up to the
selected lebel of water).
(4) The test mode is completed after the water is supplied.
Note : When using the test mode more than twice consecutively, water can overflow.
When the water overflows, wipe the ice storage bin.

DISPENSER

1) Disconnect funnel and button assembly by pulling down
and forward.
2) Remove the Display Frame moving out with both hands
in one side and make the same process in the other side
and pulling it forward like shows the picture.
3) The Display Assembly can be connected by pressing the
top of the Dispenser Cover and pushing it after separating
the Display Frame from its housing.
4) Loosen four screws with a phillips screwdriver and pull
the funnel assembly to disconnect.
5) The Cap Duct Assembly can be disconnected if the hold
lever connecting screw is loosened with a phillips driver.
6) To install the Cap Duct Assembly, insert one end of the
spring into the right hole of the dispenser lever and insert
the other end into the right hole in the top part of the
dispenser. Then attach the holder at the solenoid switch.

No water to ice maker or water 79558816900 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore refrigerator.

From the information you have provided above, I can understand the frustration of having your refrigerator malfunction, after researching model number 795.58816900. the issue is most likely going to be with the water inlet valve. the valve is what send sthe water to the ice maker and dispenser. I would suggest replacing the valve to fix the problem. The part number for the valve is MJX42111401. For the most part the valve is something you will be able to do yourself, it’s not too difficult of a repair for the average home owner. Below I have linked some information on how to remove the valve. Should you need to have a technician out to replace the valve the link is below to have service set up.
