Q:

Clean mode does not go any longer than 15 minutes before it shuts off.

A:

When an appliance goes out we usually see money going out the window, either in repair cost, or replacement. Managemylife.com can take the mystery out of the repair and an expert can tell you if its time for a replacement if you ask him. I did some research for you at this web page and found an expert answer to a similar question which may shed some light on the problem. If you want to have a qualified technician to assist you I have attached the link to searshomeservices.com. I hope this information will be useful until your expert can respond.

My best guess would be the wiring harness for the door lock mechanism is shorting to ground when the oven heats.

I would physically inspect the wiring harness to see if it is pinched or caught underneath something that might ground the wires out. The wires in this harness are 5 volts dc and if a wire touches ground the oven control thinks the door is open. The control will shut down the clean cycle.

The oven light coming on indicates the harness is sending a signal to the control that the door is open.

Good luck.

Sounds good, thanks. One final thing I need to clarify though, would I have to dismantle the entire stove to get at the wiring harness, or should I only need to take off the front of the stove? I've noticed a couple of screws in the front that I can take off, but I am not sure where exactly I will need to locate this wiring harness.

You should raise the glass top to access the wiring harness. Open the oven door and remove the 2 screws that hold the top down to the frame. The top will raise from the front and hinge at the rear. Be sure to disconnect the power to the range before raising the top. I apologize for the slow response time. I hope this helps.
