Q:

Kenmore elite stove 79099113301

A:

Thank you for contacting Sears. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore range.

I can understand the frustration of your range not functioning properly, after researching model number 790.99113301. The issue you’re having can be due to a burnt out or bad heating element for the oven. I would suggest replacing the element. If this doesn’t fix the problem then you may be having a problem with your control board. Usually when you have your burners working but your oven or broiler do not function most likely it will have to do with the wiring inside the control board.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business, have a great day.

*Safety disclaimer before you try and repair the unit make sure the power supply is disconnected. There may be sharp parts to the unit that can cause injury to you if not careful. If you don’t not feel comfortable checking this yourself you can request a technician by visiting www.SearsHomeService.com*

We tried an Ohm meter but it read 0. Is there something we can do about the control board you were talking about?

Thank you Alina F for your response. I jut finished taking the temp sensor probe out of the oven and checked it with my multi-meter and it read zero ohms. So I guess what I suspected, the temp probe is bad. Going to order a new one. Thanks again!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The electronic oven control would generally display a "F10" fault code if it sensed a runaway condition. The oven temperature sensor probe translates the oven temperature by changing its resistance with temperature. The resistance is read by the electronic oven control which will either close or open the bake and broil relay on the relay board. Your oven could have a bake or broil relay sticking causing the oven to over heat.

I strongly suggest calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to replace the control because of the high heat.

To replace the control:

First REMOVE POWER to the range.

Pull the range out from its location and locate and remove the screws that secure the upper back cover panel.

Once you have the panel removed, locate and remove the four screws that secure the electronic control to the control panel.

With the other control in hand replace connector for connector one at a time and any loose individual wires if it has any. (mostly they should be plug in connectors)

Once you have the wiring changed to the new control, then re-install the control in the range control panel and re-install the back panel and restore power to the range.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
