I posted the electrical specifications for this range in the first image below. It will normally need a 40 amp circuit breaker with 8 ga. copper wire size. The local and national electrical codes will need to be followed for the installation of that range. If the current circuit that you have in place is protected by a 40 amp circuit breaker then you should be okay.

For the problem with the element indicator light, I posted a wiring diagram in the second image below with that circuit traced in wire colors. That link for a previous answer that Yadira B. posted in the above response discusses a similar problem in a different model of range. You probably have a stuck contact in one of the infinite burner switches that is causing that indicator light to stay lit. You can use that proven fix that is described in that previous answer to repair this problem in your range. Unplug the range and connect that element indicator light. Remove the purple wire from one of the infinite burner switches and tape the end of that wire with electrical tape so that it does not short out to the metal cabinet. Power the range up briefly and see if the indicator light stays on. If it does, then you can unplug the range and continue with a process of elimination until you find the bad burner switch. You can order the switch that you need from this page: Kenmore Range Model 790.9642440C Parts . Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine the range and repair that element indicator light problem, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

The instructions for removing and replacing that door are shown in the image below. I assume that you have those instructions. It is likely that the hinges has snapped back in or that they were not locked into place before the door was removed. Here is a video that provides a procedure for replacing the oven door in that situation: How To Reinstall Your Oven Door .

This information may help you install the door back on your range.
