I understand how frustrating it can become when you continue to experience an issue with your oven. I am happy to help. The clicking noise is generally caused by a failed relay, however, testing with a volt meter will be recommended before replacing any other parts. The images below will assist you with this. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Just be sure to have your model number.

If you don't feel comfortable making these checks, I recommend scheduling for a service appointment. Here is the link: Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I have a Kenmore Electric Range flat top model # 790.9642440a. The display works and you can set the bake temp and put it on broil but nothing happens. I looked on the parts list and there are relays and a computer board. I have had a similar issue with another stove of mine and I replaced the computer control board and it fixed the problem but this is not the same stove. Looking for advice.

Hello Ron. I am sorry to hear about this problem that you are having with your Kenmore Range Model 790.9642440A.

The replacement trim part does provide the 3 pieces that you are describing (bottom trim and side trim). The part number for the replacement trim is 5303935244. You can order that part from this page: Trim Kit 5303935244 for Kenmore Range Model 790.9642440A.  Remove the oven door from the range to install that trim. The owner's manual shows how to remove the oven door (page 21). Here is a link for that owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual for Kenmore Range Model 790.9642440A. Remove the screws from the bottom of the trim and loose the screws that hold the top trim and the handle to remove that outer door trim.

I do not see a spray paint for that color but I did find brush-on touch up paint. It is part number 5304414035. Here is a direct link for the touch-up paint: Bisque Touch-Up Paint for Kenmore Range Model 790.9642440A.

You may be able to clean the rust off of the trim using a kitchen cleanser called Bar Keepers Friend. That product is a mild abrasive that will remove rust but will not harm most surfaces.

The rust can be caused by humidity in the kitchen that develops from cooking foods in the oven and on the cooktop. Once you eliminate the rust or replace the trim, you should not see the rust appear again for another 5 years or so.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Thank you for the answer. Once I removed the door and trim I found out the rust was easily cleaned out of the bottom groove of the trim and glass. I then painted inside the groove and replaced the cleaned glass. The door looks as good as new. Recently we have been hanging a hand towel on the oven door bar so perhaps that helped in causing the rust to appear. Thank you again.
