Question and Answers

Q:

How can I keep the handle tight on my Kenmore range, model 790.96423408?

A:

The original screws on your oven door handle were not quite long enough. There is a kit available that includes a new handle and two longer screws, the part number is 5305458312. If you don't need the new handle you can order the longer screws by themselves, the part number is 316433300. This part number is for one screw, you need to order 2.

There is no part number that matches what you recommended, however there is a part# 5304458312 . I assume this is what you meant since it's only one number off? If so, it does not say there are longer screws, or any screws with it?

I am very sorry to hear that your mother was injured because of this part.  I know that it can be very frustrating to have your oven door handle so loose. The kit that you asked about is available for this.  Just click on this link to view it: Door Handle.  As for the recall, this is a process that happens with the manufacturer.  For this model the manufacturer is Frigidaire.  I would suggest that you contact them, to see if there was a rework order or recall on your door handle. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
