Q:

replacement element for my range has different tabs for wiring as the original had

A:

Good morning... I can fully understand your concern regarding this issue. It would be very helpful if you could include your full model number. I did locate a link that will discuss this situation in greater detail. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help guide you as to what might be wrong with your oven and have a nice day

Thanks for adding that model number and part number. The part number is for the left front surface element. That should be a large single element. It appears that there may be a problem with the parts. The right front surface burner is a large double element. I posted pictures of those elements in the second image. The top photograph shows the double element and bottom photograph shows the single element. If you ordered part 316465000 with the intent of replacing the left front element and that part is a double element as shown in the top image, then it is the wrong part. You may need to exchange it for part 316418400 (which is listed as the right front double element but may actually be the correct large single element that you need).

If you have the correct large single element, then you may be able to use the wiring diagram shown below to wire up that new element.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details (some photos of your elements would help).

Q:

installing replacement range top element 79096412401 range

A:

I completely understand your need for some type of instructions on how to properly install the element on your range. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

This appears to be a duplicate question. I provided some advice regarding that element in this previous question that you posted: replacement element for my range has different tabs for wiring as the original had.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The "F10" fault code implies a runaway oven temperature. See image below. This could be caused by a faulty temperature sensor probe. The oven temperature sensor is located inside the oven cavity. It will be located in the upper left rear corner or upper right rear corner. It can be removed and disconnect and then tested for resistance with an Ohm meter. At room temperature, the sensor should measure approximately 1100 Ohms. If it measures approximately 1100 Ohms, the electronic oven control will need to be replaced. I added a YouTube video showing how to test the oven sensor with an Ohm meter. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power supply before accessing and replacing the electronic oven control/clock assembly. The oven control can be removed and replaced from the rear of the range by removing the panel from behind the console.

The oven sensor is part #316490001 and the electronic oven control/clock is part #316557207 which can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
