Question and Answers

Q:

Do you have instruction on replacing the Range/cooktop surface element (PART NUMBER: 316464901) on the stove, model # 79096342503 79096342503

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when needing to replace the element on your Range. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information that will assist you with your repair.

A slide in unit will have to be removed from its' installed position to remove the main top. Make sure to disconnect power before repair. You will have to remove the screws around the perimeter of the top on the sides and back of the unit to release the main top. In some cases, the knobs have to be removed to allow access to the large nuts under them. When these are removed, the control panel can be released and the screws under this panel can be accessed,

Let me know if this helps. Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Q:

How do I unlock the oven door on my Kenmore range model 790.96342503?

A:

Try holding in the light switch plunger to simulate the oven door being closed and then try to unlock the door while holding the plunger in constantly. You may be able to get the door unlocked in this manner. If the oven lock out feature was used to lock the door then you will need to hold in the STOP/CLEAR button (while holding the plunger is also) until the lockout feature is disabled (normally 3 deliberate seconds, sometimes longer). If the door was locked because a clean cycle was set then you should just need to press the STOP/CLEAR button and continue to hold the plunger in until the door latch completely unlocks.

If the door latch assembly will not unlock the door then you could have a failed latch assembly, a bad control board or a wiring failure between components.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

If you are not able to get the door unlocked and you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Why is my oven beeping?

A:

It sounds like the control board is defective. The only beeps you should hear are when the oven temperature is satisfied or when you make your selections. You should have also noticed an error code in the display if a component has failed. No, you cannot just turn off the beeping. I would recommend replacing the control board. Please see the images provided for more information.
