Thank you for submitting your question. Alina has provided you with great information for the F10 error code. The issue will be with the oven temperature probe (316490001) inside you oven. You can test the temperature probe with an ohms/volt meter to verify the part. If the temperature probe test good, then the issue will be with the main control board (316452310) and it will need to be replaced. You can order all parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. The testing information for the oven probe is provided in the image below. Youtube has great videos on how to replace parts. I would recommend putting the part numbers in an Youtube search for video repair help. I hope this information helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance with this repair. If you do not feel comfortable performing test or repairing this problem yourself, I recommend scheduling for service. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Why won't the left front burner work on my Kenmore electric range model 790?

A:

The normal causes of a burner not working are a failed element, a bad infinite burner switch or a wiring failure in the burner circuit. Without a model number, it is difficult to provide specific troubleshooting for this failure on your range. There are many different Kenmore models that begin with the numbers 790. . .

I recommend that you resubmit your question with the full model number of your range. The model number on many Kenmore ranges will be on the base of the range in front of the right or left front leveling leg. Pull out the bottom drawer to view this area if your range has a bottom drawer. If not, then the model number will likely be around the opening of the oven on the right or left side. We will be glad to help you further with this problem once we receive the additional information.

I have the same problem for Kenmore Electric Range model 790.96223404. My husband was using the burner, a fuse blew and there was a loud pop. After tripping the circuit, the rest of the range returned to full working order, but the front heating element (also features Simmer Select, in case that makes any difference) does not work at all. I'm trying to determine if I have to activate our home warranty service or not for this repair. Activating costs $100. It would help to know if the "fix" would be cheaper than the warranty fee. Thank you!

Sorry that I missed these threads. For Marlo, your failure could have been caused by a failure in that Simmer Select control board (part 316429301). You can UNPLUG the range and check that control board for burn marks or apparent damage. If that control board is damaged, it will need to be replaced. That part only costs around $25 (not including tax, shipping and handling). I provided a direct link for that part below this response. I also provided a wiring diagram with that circuit through the Simmer Select control board to the element traced in red. If you replace that Simmer Select control board and still have problems, then you may also need to replace that infinite burner switch (part 316049800). The second link below provides a video that shows how to replace that burner switch. I hope that this information helps.

For Bill. I assume that you may have already asked a question and received an answer. In your situation, you are apparently missing one leg of voltage to that burner that won't heat. The image below shows a wiring diagram with the 2 legs of power to one of the burners traced in green and red. You could have a bad burner limit switch so bypassing that switch would help you determine whether that component is bad. Be sure that you UNPLUG the range before accessing internal components and bypassing that switch. If you still need more help, let us know.

Q:

How do I replace the outer glass on a Kenmore Electric Range Model #79096223404. Part #316427100 has been received along with foil but no instructions.

A:

The oven door will need to be removed. See attached picture with instructions to remove the door. With the door removed you can remove the screws holding the inner and outer panel together (see pictures and instructions). When separating the panels be very careful so the inside parts stay in place. It will be easier to turn the door over before separating it, so the outside panel is on top. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.
