Thank you for the link. The element on light seems to work O.K., it's just the light above the individual heating element seems to be a problem.

Hello Andrea,

I would like to assist you with you range light problem. Thank you for the thorough description, it will definitely make this solution easier to get. There is one more really important bit of information that I need though. After the 790, there are five or more numbers. These determine the exact model and with that, I am able to look up your wiring diagram.

I look forward to assisting you with your range. Please get back to me with the model number in it entirety.

Thank you. The model number is 790.96113408. The individual heating elements on the right side of the range/stovetop seem to be working fine. It's the left side. Thank you for your help.

Hello Andrea,

Thank you for replying with the information that I requested. I have attached images at the end of this reply. One of them is the wiring diagram and the other is an exploded view of the control panel. It would be very unlikely to have one element effect another elements indicator light on the left side. The elements each have their dedicated circuit and it is a very straight forward one. I think it is most likely a mechanical issue. There are separate light assemblies, #14 on the exploded view, and I bet that one of them has backed out a little bit and is shining on the other. You will have to open up the control panel, there are covers on the front that stop access to the light.

Be sure to turn off the circuit breakers and unplug the range prior to working on it. There are no electrical tests in this set of instructions, so we want to fully de-energize the circuit. You will need to pull the unit out and then remove the upper cover on the back. Take a good look at the indicator lights, make sure that they are fully seated into the control panel. I have seen cases where they are out just a little bit and cannot be seated any further. Some people will carefully apply a single wrap of thin electrical tape around the lamp, just behind the panel. Reassemble the range and give it a try, the issue should be resolved.

If you would prefer to have a Sears technician perform this repair, go to [ Sears Home Services | http://services.sears.com/shs/category/repair?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch ] and you can set up an appointment.

Please let me know if you would like any further assistance.
