Q:

oven repair

A:

I know how disappointing it is when you spend time and money on a repair that doesn't correct your oven's heating issue. I was able to find a couple links that may help you diagnose your oven. I attached the links below. I hope all goes well.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details I suspect a faulty electronic oven control (EOC).

If both oven elements test Okay, replace the electronic oven control/clock assembly.

I added a YouTube video showing how to test the bake and broil elements using an Ohm meter. Since your model has a hidden bake element it would be faster and easier to slide the range out to access the leads of the bake element.

You will likely find the bake and broil elements Okay. This would mean the electronic oven control is faulty and the oven control will need to be replaced. The control can be access and replaced from the rear of the range. Remove the panel from behind the control panel to access the oven control. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your range.

The oven control #316207522 for Kenmore range model 790.95683300 can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Please review initial note. everything works on clock - timer - light- stovetop burners - the only thing that doesn't work is the heating elements in the oven - broiler. Already replaced the oven temp probe. Is it possible the replacment is faulty also?

A:

Robert: The clock/oven control is likely faulty as I mentioned in the first response. Just because the clock works and you can program the oven does not mean the control is working. The electronic oven control has a bake and broil relay and Line 2 out. If the line 2 out relay fails on the oven control board; the bake and broil element will not heat.

Your symptoms indicate that you have a bad burner switch on that front right burner. The contact P1 to 2 that has the green line traced through it on the wiring diagram shown below is apparently stuck in a "closed" position. This applies the L2 leg of voltage constantly to that right front burner. When another burner is turned on, the L1 leg of voltage is applied to that inner coil through the wire for the "Element On" light (traced in red and pink). Based on this information, I recommend that you replace that burner switch for the right front burner. You can order that switch from the Sears PartsDirect website. That part number for the switch is 316238200. Here is a direct link for that part: Burner Switch . Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components and replacing that switch. Here is a video that shows how to replace that component: Infinite Burner Switch Replacement .

These tips should help you fix this problem yourself. If you prefer to have this failure repaired at your home by a Sears technician, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
