Q:

how do i unlock my oven door?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the door will not unlock, try pushing in on the top center of the door and keep slight pressure on it at all times. Program and start a clean cycle and after 1 minute, press the OFF/Cancel pad while still pushing in on the door and wait 30 seconds to see if it unlocks. If it does not unlock, it could have a faulty door light switch, door lock motor assembly failure, control board failure or possibly a loose or bad connection in the door lock motor circuit.

The door can be manually opened by accessing the door lock motor assembly. The door lock motor assembly is located behind the oven panel. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the screws and cover from behind the range.

Remove the two screws securing the door lock motor assembly and then push or pull the connecting rod to manually unlock the oven door.

A voltage meter will be need to check and see if voltage is being supplied to the door lock motor. NOTE: I do not recommend making any voltage measurements unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I highly recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.
