Question and Answers

Q:

I have to replace the cooking top glass from the oven. How?

A:

Hi, Open the oven door & remove the 2 screws holding the top down. Lift the top up & use a wooded dowel to prop the top up. Please see the image provided for the rest of the information. Do not remove the elements, only the element channel. Remember to disconnect power before attempting repairs. I attached the link below. Hope this helps!

I can understand your concern between the 2 parts. The information you have received is correct. The switch will need to be replaced. The burner will either heat or not heat, the switch does all the controlling. The large dual burner switch is # 316238200 and is available at SearsPartsDirect .

To remove and replace the surface burner switch:

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the power source.
  2. Remove the burner knob by pulling it off.
  3. Remove the two screws securing the burner switch.
  4. Slide the range out and remove the panel behind the control panel.
  5. Disconnect one wire at a time from the old switch and reconnect it at the corresponding terminal of the new switch.
  6. Re-install the new burner switch and rear panel.
  7. Re-connect the power cord and test burner operation.

I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance any additional details will be helpful.
