This error code indicates the electronic control has detected an internal malfunction or it could have sensed a runaway temperature condition. The sensor will need to be checked first before replacing the control. To check the sensor set the oven temperature to 350 and let it cycle at least 3 times. Now disconnect power from the unit and remove the back console cover to access the control. Remove the wires on pins 12 and 13 on the P5 connection (see picture). Now check the resistance on these wires and check it with the chart attached. For instance, at 350 degrees, the resistance should be 1654 ohms plus or minus 10.8 ohms. If the temperature is in this range, the control # 316207502R will need to be replaced but if it's out of this range the sensor probe # 316233902 will need to be replaced. Q:

Why do I have grease dripping down between the two glass panels in the front door of my Kenmore range model 790.95599102?

A:

This door is not designed to be sealed. It allows air circulation through the door. If grease has dripped through the top vent and in between the door glass, I recommend calling a service technician to remove the door and disassemble the door to clean the glass. If you observe this process the first time that the technician completes the procedure, you may be able to do it yourself in the future if necessary.

This is normally not a defect of component failure. The technician could check for this type of problem at the time of service.

Be sure to avoid allowing any grease or moisture spills from dripping through the top vent of the oven door going forward. Be careful when cleaning this area. Any liquid that falls through the vent on the top of the oven door could wind up causing stains on the inner door glass.

Although we are able to provide repair advice on appliances, we are not able to address your concerns regarding customer satisfaction issues. I recommend calling the Sears National Customer Relations Office at 1-800-549-4505. They will be happy to address your satisfaction concerns with this range.
