Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore stove won't heat 790.95421302

A:

It would appear the Electronic Control has failed. To check it, remove the back cover panel. Set it to bake and check the voltage between the Bk and L2 out terminals. When making this check, do not disconnect the harness or any of the wires. Be very careful when making this live check. If there is no voltage or only 120 volts the Control has failed. It should be 230 volts there. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.

Safety Notice: Be sure to disconnect the appliance before performing any troubleshooting procedures. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks or repairs that might be recommended, please contact a local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

I isolated the problem and just purchased an extended warranty on 5/11/10, had to wait until 5/19/10 until someone even arrived to look at it (I told them what the problem was), and then didn't have the part with them. So, I'm going on two weeks without a working oven and it will take easily a week or more before they get us 'back in the queue'. I had the same issues with a Sears dishwasher and a Sears snow-thrower (two-three weeks between first call for service, don't have parts with when they did arrive, have to ship and then easily another week before they come back. Sears quality of Service customer support is horrible. The technicians when arrived have been fine, but it's the long delay between request for service and then not coming with basic (in this case known bad parts) repair parts on the truck, having to wait for them to arrive then reschedule again, that's frustrating.
