Q:

my kenmore stove model 79095267991 the lock light is blinking

A:

Having your appliance in the locked can keep you from using it properly and I will be happy to help. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include some more information such as does the door not open or were you using your self clean cycle on the range to help the expert provide you with a more detailed answer. I did manage to find a link that will provide you with some good information to help you with your question. I hope my link is useful.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The lock light should flash until the door locks when placed in the clean cycle. Once the door locks and the door locking mechanism detects the door is locked it should glow constantly.

Based on your symptom if the door is not locking then it could have a door lock mechanism failure or an oven control failure. If the door is locked then it likely has switch failure within the door locking mechanism.

The door locking mechanism is located at the rear of the range. It can be accessed by disconnecting the power cord and then removing the rear panel. If the door is locked and won't open then you can access the door lock mechanism and remove the mounting screws and then push/pull the connecting rod and it will unlock the door.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How can I fix my Kenmore electric range (bought 9 years ago, rarely used) that is blinking "LOCK" and I can't close the door?

A:

The first thing I recommend you try is to reset the range by disconnecting it from the outlet or switching off the circuit breaker of the home for 20-30 minutes then restoring the power.

The lock light blinks when the self clean cycle is initiated and the control begins to lock the oven door. You can try to stop the self cleaning cycle by pressing the clear button. The lock light will not turn off until the oven senses that it is at a safe, cool temperature.

From your description it sounds like the electronic oven control is not working properly, this part will need to be replaced if the reset doesn't work. Replacing just this part may fix the range. If you have an additional failure in the oven door lock circuit, you may need additional parts.

I recommend calling a service technician to repair this failure.

If you are able to unplug the range and access the electronic oven control board (clock assembly), then you can attempt to make this repair yourself. You would need to order the new control from the Sears PartsDirect . The part number is 316131601.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
