A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. Since the bake element is exposed at the bottom of the oven cavity it should be very easy to remove and replaced. There are two (2) screws fastening the bake element to the rear wall. You can use a #2 Phillips screwdriver or a #2 Square head driver. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the bake element.

Remove the oven racks and remove the two screws. Slide the bake element out slowly and disconnect the wires from the heating element terminals. Make sure the wire leads do not recoil back through the opening otherwise you will have to access the wires from behind the range by removing the rear panel.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Where can I find instructions about replacing a glass top for my Kenmore range?

A:

Open the oven door & remove the screws holding the top down. Lift the top up & support it with a wooden dowel. Take a digital photo of how the burners are mounted & positioned. If you have to remove any wiring be sure to tag & number them.

Please see the image provided for more details.
