Q:

Kenmore oven not staying at temperature 790.94473801

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the oven.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 790.94473801.

When the oven is working but the temperature is not where it needs to be so the cooking is done at the correct degree.  That means the temperature sensor probe needs to be looked at.   Take it out and check it with an electrical meter to see that it is either good or bad.

senser probe for model number 790.94473801

If you have further questions please let me know.

Q:

My Kenmore Electric Range Model 790 is flashing an error code of F10. What does this mean?

A:

Hi Hunter1127, The F1 error code indicates an oven sensor failure. The oven sensor is the component that controls the oven temperature. If the oven sensor checks good then it is recommended that you replace the electronic oven control. I attached the link below. Hope this help!

You have listed an error code of F1; the code displaying on my range is F10. Is this a typo on your part?

This is the code for a runaway temperature condition. It could be a problem with the control or the sensor. Try disconnecting power to the range for about 30 seconds and reconnect it. If the same condition occurres, the control will probably need to be replaced. However, to determine for sure, a resistance check would need to be made on the sensor. A technician may be needed for this. I'm listing a site you can access to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . For more specific information, a complete model number will be needed.

This is the second time the situation has occurred within 2.5 weeks. We did have one incident of the oven appearing to be hotter than the 350 degrees entered. Model # 790.94473801 Serial # VF81131527

This can happen if you ignor the initial pre-heat announcement (long beep); for example, if you're not quite ready to insert the food, and delay going to actual bake for a few minutes. In that case, just reset the breaker for the oven (turn off for a minute).
