Kenmore Electric Range Model 790.94369701, purchased 6-14-08, Owner's Manual page 13 - Setting Oven Controls: To Set the Minute Timer.

I can understand your frustration over your range timer not operating properly. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having a problem with your Kenmore electric range model 790.94369701.

To start the minute timer:

  1. Press the Timer Set/Off button.
  2. Press the up arrow to increase the time in one minute increments or press and hold the up arrow to increase the time in 10 minute increments.
  3. One you set the timer and release the up arrow, the timer should begin to count down.

I also added a link to the Use and Care guide and on page 13 with the complete instructions and details.

If you're not able to get the minute timer to start and count down following the instructions on page 13, I suspect it may need a new electronic oven control/clock assembly part #316557118. If you do need to replace the electronic oven control/clock assembly, you will also need to order the clock overlay too.

The electronic oven control/clock assemby can be accessed and replaced from behind the control panel. Remove the panel from behind the control panel to access the oven control/clock assembly. Note: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thank you for your advice. Several times I followed your steps 1. - 3. above with the same result. The timer counted down just one second and stopped. It is unlikely that I will incur the expense of a repair/replacement but instead will use the timer on microwave installed just above the Kenmore electric range/oven. For any future acquisitions of a replacement electric range/oven I likely would not buy a Kenmore.
