Q:

Oven overheats. 79094102700 Kenmore Electric range

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you’re having with the lower element staying on and overheating the oven. I know how frustrating that is.

You could have a bad temperature sensor in that oven or a failed control in the console. I recommend that you unplug the range and check that sensor first.  If you see mounting screws inside the oven cavity, then you can pull the sensor into the oven. That sensor should measure around 1100 ohms of resistance. If it reads less than 1000 ohms or more than 1200 ohms, then it will need to be replaced.

If the sensor is okay, then you will probably need to replace the electronic control. There could be a shorted power relay in the board.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with the heating element not working, on the top of the range. We are here to help. I suspect the element socket may have a loose connection. I recommend checking the element socket. Also, the left front control needs to be checked. That may be the cause of the element on indicator remaining lit. Now, if nothing appears wrong, the control and wire harness needs to be checked with a multimeter. The wire schematic below, will help you check the control and harness. I hope this helps.
