You are correct about the connections on the right rear burner switch. The P will be connected to the 2-P. The H1 wire will be connected to the 1-H1, etc. The locations of those terminals on the new switch are in different locations but the terminals are labeled the same on the 2nd switch except for the additional number in front.

The part number that you have for the right front burner switch does not appear to be correct. You indicate that you have part 316049800. My records indicate that you should be using part number 316238200 for that right front burner switch. That part number 316238200 switch should have the same designations as the original switch (P1, P2, 2, 4 and 4a). I recommend that you exchange or return that part 316049800. It does not appear to be the correct burner switch for that right front burner.

You can order that burner switch part 316238200 from this page: Right Front Burner Switch for Kenmore Range Model 790.92680302 .

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician replace those burner switches, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Hello, I am attempting to replace the switch for my front left burner on my Kenmore model 790.9588 range. The parts manual indicated that this part number was 316238200. Upon my search for this part I learned that it has been substituted with a new switch P/N 316238201. I have received this new switch and am confused with the proper connection. I have the original removal well documented with pictures and sketches so I could easily replace this if this was simply putting in an identical switch. The old switch had 5 terminals marked P / L1 / L2/ H1 / H2. The substitute switch provided has 7 terminals P1 / 2 / P2 / S1 / S2 / 4 / 4a. In addition to this there is a small lug near the top right with no marking. Could you please provide me with the proper terminal matches from the original to the substitute? Thank you very much.

Dan: Based on the image of the new switch, it looks like you do not have the correct switch. If you would provide the complete model number of your range I can then check for the proper part number for the left front burner switch.

Dan: It seems you have the wrong switch according to the parts image at Searspartsdirect. This would expain the extra terminals. Key#54B should be part #316049800.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your range. The "F1" fault code indicates an error in the electronic oven control circuitry. The failure is most likely the electronic oven control board and a slight possibility of a faulty oven temperature sensor probe. The oven temperature sensor should have a resistance measurement of 1050 to 1100 ohms at room temperature. The oven temperature sensor can be remove from inside the oven cavity and tested using an ohm meter. If the sensor measures approximately 1050 to 1100 ohms, replace the oven control board. The part number for the control board is 316207511. You can order it from this link: Sears Parts Direct . If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, just click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread.
