Thanks for the inquiry about the range model 790.92321301. The cook top does not have a latch to release the top and lift. Any assess to under the glass top would be for servicing the burners. There are screws at front that hold the top in place and the rear has hinges that allow rotation when lifted. always disconnect power supply to appliance before servicing and be cautious of sharp metals on and around parts
I hope this helps answer your question, should you need additional assistance reply with more details.

Thanks Ron H.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. The information you have received is good but does not pertain to this model. It is possible the sensor (probe) could be the problem but if it's not heating at all, the most common problem will be a defective control or open element. If you have a meter and fill confident to check this, first disconnect power to the range. Now, remove the back console panel cover and you will see the control. Reconnect the power and now very carefully check the voltage from the bk terminal to L2 out. If there is no voltage or only 120 volts, the control # 316207511 will need to be replaced. If there is 220 volts, the element will probably need to be replaced. Its possible there could be a broken wire on the element. Be very careful making this voltage check, it can be dangerous. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
