Q:

Kenmore Pro Dual Fuel Range Model 790.79523 Broiler comes on during bake & conv. bake 79079523604 Kenmore Pro Dual fuel range

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the range.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Range model number 79079523604.

Sounds like you need to get the ignitors checked first for this oven.

How to test gas ignitors for ranges:

1.  Unplug the oven from the wall for your safety.

2.  Lower the oven door.  Sometimes best to have more room and just remove it.

3.  Remove the oven racks from inside.  Remove the lower panel when testing the bake ignitor.

4.  Remove the burner shield by taking out the screws that secure it to ignitor first.

5.  Next take out the screws that hold the ignitor.  Pull the ignitor away from the oven wall.
Unclip the wire connector.  If the wire connector is not accessible, remove the back rear
panel to the oven, or remove the bottom storage drawer to access the wire connector.

6.  Get a multimeter to the lowest setting so you can measure the Ohms of resistance.  Calibrate
the meter. Refer to your meters instructions

7.  Place one of the terminals on the ovens bake ignitor's terminal with one of the multimeters
probes.  Then touch the other terminal with the other probe.

8.  Check the multimeter's display  If the meter does not move, displaying a resistance of any
numbers on the Ohms of resistance, there is no continuity.   If no continuity then the bake
    ignitor is bad.

NOTE: You should not perform this live voltage check unless you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely execute it.

Please refer to my question. This is a DUAL Fuel range. The oven is electric. The problem is while baking or convection baking the broiler comes on sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't.

Misery likes company. I have a similar oven (model 790.79523.600) with the same issue. I've burned the thanksgiving turkey and many other dishes due to this issue. If I change the temperature down, say from 400 to 350, it happens. sometimes if I add dish after preheating it comes on. Truly an unacceptable behavior from a "professional " oven. Where does the problem lie?

Q:

How do you change out 1) temp control board and 2) temp probe on a dual fuel Kenmore PRO range?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I assume there are no error codes being displayed when the oven control begins to beep? If it does, the error code will help in diagnosing the failure. The first thing I would do is to disconnect the oven temperature sensor probe and measure the Ohm resistance of the oven sensor with an Ohm meter. At room temperature, the oven temperature sensor should measure approximately 1100 Ohms. The oven sensor is the probe sticking into the oven cavity through the rear wall.

I added an image below with the procedures of accessing the oven control and the oven temperature sensor. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing the range.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Our range is also beeping constantly and frequently just shuts down. The control board has been replaced four times, the potentiometers have both been replaced, how do I check the oven temp sensor? Tried looking at the info in the post above but too small.

Q:

What are the CFM requirements for the dual fuel freestanding range model 79079523600 (#79523)?

A:

I did not find a CFM requirement or specification on this range. I am not sure what you are asking. If you are asking about a CFM air flow requirement for a range hood above this range, it does not require a range hood. You can use on if you want to but it is not required. I provided the contractor specification sheet in the first image below.

Here is a link for the entire installation guide: Installation Instructions

These documents should provide you with any specifications that you need for installation.
