Q:

Kenmore elite gas range stove oven isnt working but burner are fine

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your range/oven model 790.79443601 sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on your description of the oven not heating or only heating some could indicate any number of component failures. Here are a few things you should check to determine the cause of the non-heating. When you set the controls to bake you should be able to see a bright orange glow in the oven that is the igniter.  If there is no glow or a very faint glow the igniter needs to be inspected. If the inspection shows the igniter in good condition and there is bright glowing then I would suspect the dual valve is not opening.  If the ignite is not glowing then you should inspect the wiring to the igniter and back to the ovens main control board. Tracing the wiring you should find the power out of the control to read 120 volts ac to the igniter. If the control is not outputting power to the igniter then check the temperature sensor and connections, sensor should read about 1100 ohms resistance at room temperature; if it is open it should be replaced. If it reads correctly then suspect the main oven control.  I will attach a wiring diagram for your convenience; this will help you trace wiring and the heating circuit. I hope this help you, if you need more help reply with added details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. If you need parts here is a link to Sears Parts Direct.  Ron H.

Thank you for the reply, I checked the stove today and it didn't light up or get warm when it was on the bake setting. Do you think I should replace the igniter?

A:

Hi Nipits, thanks for your reply, I do not recommend replacing the igniter without testing, (unless you can visually see that the filament of the igniter is broken or separated.) If you have a volt/ohm meter it should have 120 volt ac to it when control is set to bake and it should glow very bright. Ron H.

Q:

Does the pressure regulator on a Kenmore elite gas range (model 790.79443601) have to be changed or adjusted for conversion from natural gas to lp?

A:

The pressure regulator has to be blocked open when the range is converted to lp. To do this turn the gas off and remove the cap on the top of the regulator. Turn the cap over and insert the long end into the regulator. You should now see lp on the top of the cap. This blocks the regulator for lp operation.

I am sending you an image to make it more clear.

Q:

Where can I find the instructions for LP conversion of my Kenmore Elite range?

A:

The conversion of the oven and broiler burners from natural gas to LP involves adjustment of the burner orifice hoods and then adjustment of the air shutters. The first image below shows details concerning the adjustment of the orifice hoods. These should be tightened all the way down for LP. The second and third images show the adjustment of the air shutters for the bake and broil burners. No parts are needed for the conversion of the bake and broiler burners.

These adjustments are normally made by a licensed LP gas technician.
