A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the range.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Range model number 79079383401.

You have taken something like an ohm meter and have verified there is continuity to your range correct?

If you have verified that both are in working order and not getting them to heat up.   The power source to the oven is the control clock.

Control clock per the model of 790.79383401

Q:

What would be the cause of the oven to die in a Kenmore Elite dual fuel range model 790.79383401?

A:

According to your symptoms, it is likely that a contact or relay on the EOC (Electronic Oven Control) board (part 316418752) is burnt. You can unplug the range and remove the upper back panel to verify this failure. Once you remove the back panel, you will likely see the burnt spot on the control board. NOTE: Internal metal edges in the range can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended.

You can order a new EOC from the Sears PartsDirect website.

The procedure for replacing the EOC is shown in the image below. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components in the range.

Replacing this EOC will likely fix your oven problem in the range. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Thank you for the advice- I really appreciate it. We will try this to see if that part looks like it has burnt out. Would you have any idea of the cost ( I know it would be an estimate) if we would have a technician come out to replace this part if we identify that this is the issue?

Q:

How to replace ingniter on dual fuel range.

A:

A non working Range is not something any of us want to see. If you are technically handy, this is a good site to get instruction and fix some things yourself. If you do not feel confident doing your own repairs, an option is to visit Sears Home Services and use the scheduler. While you wait for the expert to review your model, you can check the bottom link for some possibilities. Hope this is of help.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The surface electrodes/ignitors do not normally fail or need to be replaced unless it's physically broken. The electrode is nothing more than a metal electrode protruding up through a ceramic insulator which is used to cause the voltage from the spark module to jump spark from the electrode to the grounded burner base. When any of the surface burner knobs turned to the "LITE" position it completes a path of voltage to the spark module which provides voltage to each electrode which causes the electrical energy to jump spark from the electrode to the grounded burner. If the left front burner electrode is not sparking and all the rest are then the wire connected to the electrode may have fallen off of the electrode. If it is sparking and not lighting then the electrode, spark ignition switch and spark module is Okay. Look for a blockage in the burner ports. With the burner off, use a small gauge wire or needle to clean the ports. See General Care and Cleaning section in your User's manual.

I added an image below with the instructions on how to raise the top. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your range.
