Q:

How to fix my Kenmore " Elete" gas range.

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when all the electrical power has gone out of the range.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your model number 790.79373405.

In looking at your range and seeing you lost the power.  The first thing to do is turn on and off the breaker to the range a time or two.   If you have done that then the next step is to check your power cord.  If that is good then sounds like you will be needing a new electronical control clock.   The clock is what controls everything in the computer board and very easy to replace.  I have it on the link below.

If you have further questions please let me know.

If by "new" you mean new from the store & within one year of purchase the range is under warranty -call 1-800-469-4663, give the telephone number you gave at the time of purchase. Couple of things though (i) be prepared to be put through to the Punjab, (ii) be prepared to to be put through various waits & delays and (iii) be prepared to have them try to wriggle out of the service-don't wonder aloud if it is the installation problem, don't suggest that you haven't read the manual or you are not 100% certain that you are using the range properly. Have you tried this -yes of course you have! I am sorry to portray Sears service in this light, but this is the way it is until Sears (and other corporations for that matter) are made to respect Americans.

The problem that you are describing could be caused by a gas supply problem or a component failure in the range. This model does not appear to be brand new. If it is under warranty, you can call 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) for service. Agents at that phone number will try to help you troubleshoot the problem over the phone and will schedule service if necessary.

If the range is not under warranty, I recommend that you make sure that the gas cut-off valve is fully open. If you find no problem there, you will probably need to have a gas technician or service technician check the gas supply pressure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need to schedule out-of-warranty service: Sears Home Services .

If the gas supply is okay, then a service technician will probably need to physically examine the range to determine the cause of this failure. You could have a problem with the regulator.

I hope that this information helps. This could be a difficult failure to resolve on your own. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
