Question and Answers

Q:

Is this a natural gas or liquid propane range? 79079364400 Kenmore Elite Gas range

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 79079364400 and it is a possibility that it was converted. The gas ignitor and orifice for the large burner(right front) for natural gas assembly is PN 316430500 and for the orifice is 316237912. I recommend checking the other burners orifice and compare them. The LP orifice number is 316243716. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Q:

The oven door is locked and will not unlock. 79079364400 Kenmore Elite Gas range

A:

It can be very aggravating when the door to your oven fails to open properly. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

I can definitely understand the concern with having food going bad in the oven and wanting to get the door unlocked right away.

Since you have a free standing range, the door lock assembly may be on the very back of the range. Unplug the range and pull it forward so that you can access the back panel. Remove the lower back panel and see if you can find the oven door lock assembly. A rod will be connected from the door lock assembly to the latch on the oven door. If you can disconnect the rod, you can likely open the oven door. You can try replacing the door latch assembly to fix your problem on this type of range. If that does not fix your problem, then you may need to replace the control board. I have included the links to our PartsDirect page for the lock assembly and control panel.
