Q:

Hi, I have one burner that no longer clicks and sparks to light, what could be wrong? 79079213301 Kenmore Elite Gas range

A:

Thank you for your question to SearsPartsDirect.com and for being a valued member.

I apologize your experiencing problems with your Kenmore Elite Gas Range model number 79079213301.

The stove top burners have their own individual igniters. If you don’t hear the clicking or have a spark the individual igniter should be replaced. Each igniter is available in an assembly the only difference is in the location on the burner that’s no longer lighting.

Here is the Burner diagram for your Kenmore Elite Gas Range model number 79079213301

The key numbers for these replacement igniters are 11 through 11D (depending on which burner you need)

Always shut off power to the oven. Turn the gas shut-off valve to the off position.

The bottom panel in the oven cavity will need to be removed to replace the igniter in that range. Here is a repair guide that shows the basic steps for installing the new igniter: How to Replace a Gas Oven Igniter

The bottom panel can usually be removed without removing the convection fan. Since you indicate that the convection fan has to be removed, I recommend that you try using a slot screwdriver or a properly sized Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws on the front of the convection fan cover. Those screws have a Phillips head.

If you are not able to access the igniter, I recommend that you have a service technician complete that repair.
