Q:

How to determine if a range is set up for LP gas

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your range/oven model 790.78863803, I will be glad to assist you. When this range is shipped it is set up to operate on natural gas, the conversion kit for changing to LP is located on the back of the range. The kit is in a plastic bag attached to the gas regulator or the gas line where you home gas supply connects.  Being able to determine if your range has been converted can be decided first: if the gas regulator has been change from natural gas to LP, or if the LP components are still intact and in an unopened bag.It is very difficult to determine if the top burner orifices have been changed to LP because they are the same but a different size hole in them.  The oven orifices are not replaced for LP but are only adjusted to operate on LP.  Often you must actually hook up the unit to gas and operate it to tell.  If it has had the conversion and hooked to natural gas the flames will be very low on top burners and the oven burners, if it is still natural it should bur normal.  (LP has smaller orifices and reduced oven orifices flow)  I hope this helps you if you need a technician here is a link o Sears Home Services.

Thank You Ron for your information. There is no plastic bag only a lable on the back. Is there some marking on the regulator that would indicate the gas type. I couldn't tell if the kit was only for the burner orifices, or for both them and the regulator.
