Q:

conversion back to natural gas 79078832601 Kenmore Gas range

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about converting your Kenmore gas range model 79078832601 back to natural gas. I will be happy to help you with this.
There is not a natural gas conversion kit. You will need to purchase the individual orifices. I will list the part numbers for you and identify which orifice goes to which burners.

Right Front Burner - part number 316237909
Right Rear Burner – part number 316237903
Left Front and Left Rear Burners – part number 316237902 (order 2)
Three center burners – part number 316237913 (order 3)

These parts are available for purchase at www.SearsPartsDirect.com. There are other parts in the range that will have to be adjusted for natural gas. I have included the LP conversion instructions at the bottom of this post. The technician performing the gas conversion for you will need this information to reverse the process that converted the range to LP.

SAFETY WARNING:  Gas conversions should only be completed by a qualified technician to prevent the risk of dangerous gas leaks. If the conversion is not completed properly, it could result in property damage, personal injury and even death. Many states have laws requiring a technician complete this conversion for that reason. I recommend you contact your gas company. They will often send a technician to your home to complete this process for you.

Here at SearsPartsDirect.com we love to help you with your home projects but it is our opinion that gas conversions are too dangerous for a do-it-yourself project. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question on the gas range igniter clicking continuously.

In order for the burner to light you would have to turn the valve on to have gas to the burner.

If you have been cleaning the range or have had a boil over it may have gotten moisture into the igniter switch behind the valve knob on the range.

If this is the reason it sound dry out in a couple of days and be fine.

If it is all the time and it has not been caused by moisture then the switch harness will need to be replaced.

If you decide to replace the igniter switches they come as a complete set for all the surface burners.

The part number is: 316219009.

Igniter switch harness .

Since this is a gas range I would suggest that you have a service technician perform the repair of the igniter switches.

Please let me know what you find and we can continue to troubleshoot with that information.

Thank you for the update on the burner switches clicking all the time. It should only take a few days to dry out. It could be that the contacts inside the switch are stuck together and you will need to replace the switch string. The switches are behind the burner knob and slide over the burner knob shaft so when you turn the burner on the switch is turned on too. Sam A.
