If the oven is barely heating at all, make sure that the service shut-off valve for the oven is in the "on" position as shown in the first image below.

To remove the oven bottom, remove the two thumb screws that are at the back of this panel. Pull the oven bottom back slightly so that the front of the panel will clear the lip at the front of the oven cavity and then you can pull the bottom panel out. Pull out the flame spreader and then you can observe the burner assembly. The second image below shows the theory of operation for the gas burner assembly. If the ignitor is glowing but the burner will not light, then the ignitor (part 316489400) will likely need to be replaced. A technician will normally measure the amp draw using a clamp-on ammeter but most people don't have this tool. It would not be practical to buy one just to use for this check. Replacing the ignitor will normally fix this failure in this situation.

You can order the ignitor from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If the ignitor is not glowing, you could have a bad control board, a wiring failure or an open gas valve this is causing this problem.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
