Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the electronic oven control is dead then I would make sure it's getting the proper voltage across pin 5 and 4 of the 15 pin connector. See image below. If 120 volts is present when measuring across pins 4 and 5, the Electronic Oven Control is faulty and will need to be replaced. You can access and replace the Electronic Oven Control from the rear of the console assembly by removing the panel from behind the back of the console. NOTE: I do not recommend checking the voltage supply across pins 5 and 4 unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

The electronic oven control if needed is part #316557211 which is available to order at Sears PartsDirect .

Q:

How do I fix my Kenmore oven control panel that went blank?

A:

You will normally need to evacuate the home and call the gas company from a neighbor’s home when you smell the strong odor of gas. Since you are submitting this question I assume that you are no longer smelling the gas after shutting off the burners for the range.

Check the outlet for the oven if the cook top burners will not spark at all. A lack of electrical power to the outlet would cause the electronic oven control board to go blank and the burners would not spark. Check the breaker if you suspect a problem with the outlet. Plug a small lamp or appliance into the range to make sure that the outlet is working.

If the burners are sparking properly, then the range has electrical power. Even though the range may have electrical power, you may have a problem with the control board getting power. With the range unplugged, you can access the control board in the console (remove the upper back access panel) and check the wiring connections on the back of the control board. The first image below shows the L1 connection to the control board traced in red. This should be a black wire that connects to pin 4 of the P5 connector on the control board (see second image). The neutral wire (traced in blue) should connect to pin 5 with a white wire on P5. If these connections are okay, you can check the continuity through the outlet plug for these connections if you have a volt/ohm meter. If the connections are good and the control board is apparently getting power, then you will need to replace the control board since it will not power up.

You can view a parts list diagram for your range and order parts on the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
