That link for a previous answer that Henry posted in the above response correctly indicates the cause of your F30 error code. The electronic oven control board detects an "open" oven temperature sensor probe circuit. You can check the resistance of the oven temperature sensor probe using a volt/ohm meter. It should measure around 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the resistance of that sensor is high (over 2000 ohms) or you measure OL (open load or infinite resistance) then that sensor will need to be replaced. You can order that sensor from this page: Sensor Probe for Kenmore Range Model 790.78764406 .

You can access the sensor from the back of the range. Unplug the range and remove the back panel. The image below shows that sensor probe.

If the sensor probe is okay, you can check the resistance of the entire sensor circuit from the electronic control board in the console (with the range still unplugged ). If the resistance of the entire sensor circuit is normal (around 1100 ohms at room temperature) then the electronic oven control board will need to be replaced. If the resistance through the sensor circuit is high even though the sensor itself tested okay, then you will need to examine and repair the wiring harness for that sensor.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
