Q:

oven smells gaseous not getting very hot 79078673405

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the range.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Range model number 79078673405.

You are smelling gas so it would be very wise not to use your oven.   Sounds like that you have a fuel line connection that needs to be looked at or you need a new safety valve.

I would order a gas valve and then when it gets there have a professional put it in for you.  If the person putting it in for you finds you don't need it then you have 90 days to return it.   You want it there though when the gas person gets there so it can all be done very quickly.

Q:

How do I replace the Power Burner Electrode on Kemore Gas range, model # 790.78673405?

A:

That's great to hear that you are wanting to change parts on your range. I have provided some links that might help you understand what to do. The first link is the parts diagram where you can look and perches parts that you might be needing. The second link is where the expert provides extra information on what can be happening. It may not be your model but it gives you some general information.

I did not find a separate igniter available for that burner. The ignitor/orifice assembly is only available as a combined unit. The part number that you have (316272000) is the correct number for the power burner according to my parts information.

You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website.

I recommend that you have a service technician replace that part. The gas connections will need to be properly leak checked and the burner will need to be aligned properly. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to install the ignitor/orifice assembly yourself, you can unplug the range and shut off the gas supply . The image below shows how to lift the top and remove the burner box. You should then be able to replace that part. Be sure that you properly align the burner and properly leak check the gas connection (this involves coating the connection with soapy water and looking for bubbles indicating a leak).

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.
