The procedure for locking the oven door when the range is not in the cleaning mode is shown in the image below. If you are following this procedure and the oven door will not lock, try holding that STOP/CLEAR button down for longer. It will normally take 3 deliberate seconds to enable this feature.

Here is a link for the full owner's manual on that range: Owner's Manual

Since the door locks properly in the cleaning mode, the door lock assembly should be okay.

If you still can't lock the door using the information shown below, you will probably need to replace the oven clock control board (part 316557107). You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website.

Here is a brief video that shows how to replace that part: Video: Range Clock Control Replacement . Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question.

I can understand you concern for the oven not heating properly.

From the symptoms you have listed it sounds like the Hot surface oven igniter has failed.

I you feel comfortable with and have some mechanical ability you could remove the oven floor and check the operation of the igniter.

Open the oven door and locate the two thumb screws in the back bottom of the panel. Remove these screws and lift up and back on the oven floor panel to remove.

Remove the flame spreader panel (it looks like a butterfly wing) and observe the igniter bar mounted to the burner tube.

With the oven set to bake the igniter should come on and stay on until the oven comes up to temperature. If the igniter goes out shortly after it lights or only comes on intermittently, it has failed, and needs to be replaced.

The part number for the igniter is :316489400 and you can order this part from: Sears Parts Direct .

There are other parts if the system that could fail but this is the most likely and is the easiest to for the home owner to change.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

I hope this will help with your oven repair.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
