Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. I'm sorry to hear about the intermittent oven, I know how frustrating it is to not be able to bake or broil food when needed.

I am curious on whether you have received any error codes on the display, the electronically controlled appliances are self-diagnosing, so they should tell you what is wrong from the error on the display.

However, the issue you mention sounds like a communication error between the electronic board and the oven cavity. This is a pretty common symptom of that issue; the surface burners will work fine but the oven cavity won't, or will be sporadic at best.

A replacement control board and overlay will more than likely solve the issue your experiencing, however, without knowing the precise error code, I can't say it will work with complete certainty.

I have included links to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the parts needed to complete the repair. If you feel this repair would be better handled by a Sears Home Service Technician, click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

Thank you for you question on the igniter on the bake burner.

Based on the information you have given me I would suggest replacing the igniter.

It is hard to get a good accurate resistance check on the igniter. The proper way to check it is with an amp probe to check for a 2.9 to 3.2 amp draw.

We know it is not broken because it will glow but it came be weak and that is what it indicates when you tap the safety valve and it will come on.

If you are referring to the oven temperature sensor it should be 1050 to 1100 ohms at 75 to 80 degrees room temperature.

I would change the igniter part number: 316489400 for about $68.00 and you can purchase it from: Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
