I have a Kenmore oven #79078573407 that will not work after a self clean cycle. What are the basic specs for the ignitor, how many ohms?

Troubleshooting electric issues is not for most of us. If you feel confident, the expert will be able to provide the model specific information needed. I did find a similar question with some general information and diagram that may help while you wait for the expert. I also added the link to Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule a qualified technician to help.

The theory of operation for that ignition system in your oven is shown in the first image below. The second image shows a wiring schematic and the third image shows the wiring diagram for your range. Here is a link for a video that illustrates the ignition operation: Gas Ignition Operation . That igniter will probably measure around 200 to 400 ohms at room temperature. The resistance of that igniter will vary as explained in that video. If the igniter is glowing when the oven is set in the bake cycle then most of the components in that ignition circuit are probably okay. The most likely cause of your failure in that situation is the igniter.

If the igniter is not glowing when the oven is set in a bake cycle then you could have a bad clock control board, a failed igniter, a bad safety gas valve or a wiring failure in that circuit.

These tips may help you determine the cause of your failure. If you need parts, you can order them from this page: Kenmore Range 790.78573407 Parts .
