A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Range, Model: 790.78573401. From reviewing the details on your model, the oven door needs to be flush to keep the heat in as well as control that light. The hinges will probably need to be replaced to fix this problem.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The bake and broil burners do not have pilot light. It has an electronic glow bar igniter. The igniter must come on and glow bright red before the oven gas valve will open. If the igniter is not glowing, the igniter, electronic oven control or gas valve could be faulty.

If you open the oven door and then turn on the broiler, you will see the broil igniter coming on providing it works. The bake burner operates the same way. The bake burner and bake igniter is located below the oven floor. There is a good possibility the bake igniter is broken or it has a faulty electronic oven control/clock assembly.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

To replace the glass in the oven door you need to remove the door from the range and place it handle down on a padded work surface. I am sending you an image of the instructions for removing the oven door that are in the owners manual for the range.

To follow these instructions you should look at the parts diagram of the oven door. You can see a parts diagram at [www.searspartsdirect.com].

Loosen the 2 screws (item 10) and remove the door handle. Leave the screws in the inner door liner. Notice the spacer for the 2 screws (item 20) that is inside the door.

Remove the screws (item 60B) from the bottom of the front panel.

Remove the inner door liner (item 9) and the screws and spacers. Remove the inner glasses and insulation placing them in the order or removal so they go back in the same order.

If you remove the front panel first the inner parts of the door will collapse and be hard to reassemble.
