Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, the two door hinges and door hinge receptacles will need to be replaced. The door springs are part of the door hinges and are not adjustable.

The hinge kit #5304445977 for Kenmore gas range model 790.78510400 can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct. I also added an image below with the replacement procedures.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Here is a link for a video that shows the theory of operation for the ignition system on this range oven: Gas Ignition Operation . That theory of operation is also described in the image below. I recommend that you pull that oven bottom and flame spreader on top of the oven burner. Start the oven in the bake mode and see if that igniter glows. If it does and the burner will not ignite or stay lit, then you will probably need to replace that igniter.

If the igniter does not glow or will not stay red, then you could have a problem with the wiring or the control board.

These tips may help you determine what is causing your heating failure in the oven. You can order parts from this page: Kenmore Gas Range Model 790.78510400 Parts .

If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services . Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing and replacing internal components.

Q:

Why is my self-cleaning feature not working on my range?

A:

If the range door is not closing correctly, it would affect the self clean which locks the door. The expert will review and respond to this model, but I did attach a previous post with some possible causes. I also added the link to Sears Home Services if you would like to schedule an experienced technician help to diagnose and make repairs.

The self-cleaning feature is not going to work if the door is not sealing properly. The self-cleaning cycle gets to extremely high temperatures and requires for the door to be properly sealed. The door not sealing completely, is normally caused by a problem with the door hinge assembly in the oven door or the receptacles on the oven frame. Carefully examine the receptacles on the oven frame to see if they are bent or damaged. You may need to remove the oven door to check the receptacles. The image below shows how to remove the oven door. If the receptacles are okay, then you will likely need to replace the hinges in the oven door to fix this problem. The hinge kit is part number 5304445977 priced at $47.99. You can order the parts from our Sears Parts Direct team. The image below provides some direction on opening the oven door to access the hinges. This information will help you replace the hinges in the door if necessary. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. You can schedule repair service online at www.searshomeservices.com . I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing Manage My Life.
