I understand your concern about the frequent problems that you have had with this range. We can give you advice regarding the technical aspects of the range and the repair.

The F95 code indicates that you have a problem with the oven door lock mechanism. This failure can normally be repaired by a technician so that it will not likely cause any more problems for many years. As with any appliance, there is not 100% guarantee that it will continue to work properly. A component failure can occur at any time. You will have the same chance for failure if you replace the range with a brand new one. The problem with the burner knobs being too hot to touch when the oven is being used sounds unusual. The knobs will naturally get warm or even hot, but if this problem is extreme then I recommend that you have a service technician examine the range. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

NOTE: Intermittent problems can be difficult for a service technician to diagnose and repair. If the F95 only shows up some of the time, the technician may not be able to diagnose and fix that problem unless it is displayed during his visit.

Regarding your concerns about the multiple repairs on this range, I recommend that you call the Sears Customer Care Team at 1-800-479-6351. They will help you in regards to the multiple service calls and your satisfaction with this range.

If you need more help, let me know.

My stove is having the same problem. I have already had the circuit board replaced under warranty as well after the display failed to operate. I think because the oven vents right below the circuit board and gets very hot it is probably the problem with the board. I too am very upset about this. I purchased this expensive stove because I thought Kenmore was a good appliance but not if it keeps going out. Makes me wonder how many other people that have this stove are having a similar problem.

Yes it is exactly the same model. I had a problem right after I got it and they replaced the circuit board. I purchased the stove in 2009, purchased a service policy for 3 years but of course they count the first year so it expired before I needed to use it again. When you try to use the oven, it will start to preheat but then displays the F95 error code. I have read of many complaints about the same thing happening. My husband is a mechanic and we would love to be able to fix this ourselves if possible and avoid more costly repairs. Of course if it really takes a tech to do the work we will do that too. Since my Kenmore microwave just stopped working too, I really need something that I can use to cook with. Would appreciate any assistance I can get!!

I contacted Sears at the number listed above, very disappointed in their response. Now hoping I can get this expensive oven fixed and use it for years to come as I can't afford to replace it. Would love to hear from others that have experienced problems with this stove as well.

That door lock failure is not that common on your model of range. You may be able to fix the failure yourself. You can UNPLUG the range and remove the back panels. Note: Metal edges on the back of the range are sharp. Protective gloves are recommended. Check the wiring connections on the door lock assembly and the electronic oven control board in the console. The wiring connections are marked in wire colors on the wiring diagram in the image below. If the wiring connections are okay, then you may be able to fix the problem by replacing that door latch motor assembly (part 316464300). Here is a link for that part: Oven Door Latch Motor Part 316464300 for Kenmore Range Model 790. 77513804 . Note: Replacing that door lock assembly is not absolutely guaranteed to fix your problem. You could have a failure in the electronic oven control board or the wiring. I hope that this information helps. If you need further assistance, reply with additional details.

You could have a problem with the igniter electrode on that center burner. A wiring failure or a failed spark module could also prevent that electrode from sparking.

I recommend that you unplug the range and check that electrode on the center burner. Look for residue from a spill that may be interfering with the conductivity of that igniter. Clean that electrode if necessary. Allow it to dry completely before trying to ignite the burner. Make sure that the burner is reassembled properly.

If that does not help, then you may need to have a service technician examine the range and repair this problem. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

If you want to fix this problem yourself, then you will need to unplug the range and lift the cooktop to check the wiring connection on the igniter electrode for the center burner. You should find screws under the burner heads. Remove those screws and then you should be able to lift the cooktop up. Clips at the front of that cooktop will probably need to be released using a putty knife before that top can be lifted up. Check the wiring connection on the electrode for the middle burner. If that wiring connection is okay, then you can try attaching an ignition wire from a different burner to that middle electrode. You may have enough slack in one of the other burner electrode wires to reach that middle burner. See if that electrode will spark with a different wire attached to it. If it does, then the spark module (part 318079001) will probably need to be replaced. A wiring failure could also prevent the middle electrode from sparking in that situation. If the electrode does not spark with a different wire attached, then the electrode will need to be replaced. That electrode is not available as a separate component from the orifice assembly (part 316532601 for the center burner). Replacing that entire assembly should fix your problem in that situation.

You can order parts from this page: Kenmore Elite Range Model 790.77513804 Burner Parts . Unplug the range before accessing and replacing internal components. Make sure that the gas supply tube connection on that burner head is properly sealed and leak checked if you install a new burner orifice/ignitor assembly. If you are not certain that you can properly replace that component and check it for leaks, then I recommend that you have a service technician complete that repair. Failure to properly replace and seal that gas line connection could result in a dangerous situation.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Lyle W The center post has a spark when I turn the lite knob on. It continues to spark, but the gas does not light. A non Sears tech examined the unit, took the center gas unit apart and could not determine why the gas did not light. The range is 3 years old and it lighted originally and has since stiopped, The problem does not appear to be lack of a spark

Hello Bob. Thanks for the clarification of the problem. You are correct that the problem does not appear to be a lack of spark since that electrode is firing. You seem to have an adequate gas supply provided to the burner since it will light with an external flame applied. Cleaning that burner head thoroughly is the next logical step based on your symptoms. You may have already done that. Make sure that the ports around that spark igniter electrode are completely clean. Make sure that the burner head is completely dry and is properly positioned on top of the orifice assembly after it is cleaned. That may fix this problem. If not, then the burner may need to be examined again by a technician.

Hi, I had already cleaned the burner and took it apart and there is no blockage.. Maybe there is a prolblem in the configuration. That would indicate replacing the burner assembly. The enterance to the spark electrode is in alighnment so that does not seem to be a problem. We can live with it by using a match to light, but this is a Honey do problem, if you know what I mean! Thanks for your help.
