It does sound like the switch is bad on that burner control. The only way to get the switch for that range is to order that wire harness/switch assembly part 316219019. You can order that part from this page: Burner Wire Harness and Switch Assembly Part 316219019 for Kenmore Range Model 790.77449802 . Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before replacing that part. The link for a previous answer that Henry posted in the above response shows how to replace that harness. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

I know that it can be very helpful to have the right information for your range. The first thing to do is disconnect the range from the power source.

Remove the cover on the back side of the console. You will see the control board/clock. It is usually held in position with 2-4 screws. Remove them.

Disconnect one wire at time and transfer it to the new control board so you will won't forget where they go. Place the film cover on the face of the clock and screw into place. Then replace the panel and plug in the range to check it's function.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

You need to remove the cover on the back of the range. This can have anywhere from 4 to 12 screws. You will need to remove all of them, but one of the corners. That one just loosen so the panel slides out of the way. Then follow the rest of the directions to remove and replace the control board/clock. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
