Question and Answers

Q:

Is the oven ignitor bad or the oven safety valve?

A:

If the glow bar is glowing and the gas valve never opens generally indicates a weak ignitor. If the ignitor does not pull enough amperage/current the gas valve will not open. The Bake ignitor part number is 5303935066.

The igniter should have a quick disconnect plug. You should be able to replace it from inside the oven cavity.

Q:

Why won't the oven heat in my Kenmore gas range model 79075750103?

A:

The following link of a previous answer of a previous answer provides information on the operation of the burner in this type range: Why won't my gas Kenmore oven heat? The link also provides tips on diagnosing this failure.

If the igniter is not glowing, you could have a failed igniter, a bad control board, an open gas valve coil or a wiring failure between components.

A technician is normally needed to diagnose and repair this type of failure. If you have the technical ability to safely perform checks described in the link, then you may be able to determine the cause of this failure yourself. If not, I recommend calling a service technician to fix the range.
